Anyone have any luck with a factory (porsche) dank, URO ?
There is a big difference in price ?
I know they are a simple unit.
Have had a new one and they still do not read very good ?

I just replaced my OEM one (wasn't going all the way to the top) with one from SMC (aftermarket) and now it jitters.

I did have to tighten up the pins as they were loose compared to the OEM but even with the tight pin/socket connection, it acts like a bad ground...I haven't had time to investigate further. Really annoying to take off the expansion chamber multiple times for something that should be a direct plug and play.

I have had mixed results with the above. IIRC I had a couple extras laying around and got about 1/2 of them to work decently

Yeah - I was going to replace mine and then open up the old one to see what's what - but I dropped it while taking it out - but maybe that's what it needs. I've had them apart on a different 914 years ago with success. They're just delicate inside.

Mine reads about 3/4 full on a full tank of gas. I can get it to read 4/4 IF I fill the expansion tank too, which is not a great idea.

3/4 full it is.

But my car will get to 1/4 full and stay there for close to 100 miles before the gauge reads lower. I just fill the tank whenever I go anywhere and treat the gas gauge as an educated guess.

When I made my triple gauge, I pulled the needle and put it back wrong. Out of gas when it said a quarter full. Fortunately the light still came on. Tried it again and went a bit too much in the wrong direction. I will get it right sooner or later. I have often wondered about putting a little potentiometer in line with gauges to set the baselines. Never tried it.

Use the gauge as an estimate and the warning light as a 'stop at next gas station'.

I had luck cleaning the OEM sender. Carefully cleaned and 2000 grit sanded the wires and it works well now. I fill up when I get to 1/2 tank on my 914 and my 930.

Yup. The sender is just a guesstimate on good days. If it indicates more than 1/2 full you have plenty os gas. Under 1/2 means you could run out soon.
