Hi Everyone,
I recently had an accident that damaged the front of my 1971 914-4. The body shop would like me to source an entire front corner because most sections of the left front corner are distorted beyond repair. I have sourced an entire front end from a 1974, and want to know if it is the same as my 1971. Thanks in advance for your wisdom. John Strawway |

The 74 will not be the same as the 71, but can be made to work. The 71 does not (to my knowledge) have the half-circle reinforcement behind the front panel, and I think there are other smaller differences.

Bumper indentions are different too. 70-72 group 73-74 group and the 75-76 group.

In other words, yes, it will work and the differences are mainly cosmetic. My 74 was crashed and has a front nose from a 75/76.

Here I used a ‘74 panel on a ‘72, I removed the half moon brackets. Everything lined up, a little difference where inner panel of the headlight buckets mated to the panel.
 mAdditionally I used ‘76 turn signal front corners adding the reinforcement brackets for the bumper. This is the finished product.  See before photos here http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...=211943&hl= |

fenders are basically the same, except for the bumper cover holder on the 75 76 fenders, front panels are as follows:
70-72 73 74 75 76 when the wrong panel is installed it is an easy way to show previous wreck.
