Cheers all!

Following the procedure for setting valves using the ramps.

It's up, the driver's wheel is off, plugs are out, e-brake is off, and I can't get the driver's wheel to turn. I've tried 1st and 3rd gear. Neutral it all rotates freely.

WTF am I missing?

I have been looking for a remote starter switch with about a 12 foot lead. They all seem to be 5 ft leads.

Our starters are not accessible from the top engine bay. So connected to the solenoid, it has to route under the car to the drivers side and long enough to be able to stand up and see the dizzy position. 5 ft long is not sufficient

For being underneath and adjusting valves using the Capn visual "rocking method" (where you don't need to know which cylinder is TDC) then the cheapie Lisle starter switch works fine.

Though I'd never had the need for it, if i were working on top then I'd run the cable through or around the sheet metal. Maybe remove the heater tube and go through there?

Jeff, know anyone that does wiring that could make an extension for it? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I just used some zipcord the same size as original to cut/splice/extend the leads on my Amazon-purchased starter switch cable.

You get a wire from the starter solenoid. I use yellow. And you run it up towards the battery. Then you touch it to the positive terminal and the motor turns over. Now everyone on the planet is closer to stealing my car.

Just hook the remote starter button to either pin II or IV on the 4 pin connector on the relay board. They are both in the starter circuit. So you don't even have to climb under the car to hook it up.

Yes. I have been doing that for years. The ignition switch on Betty's car broke on an out of town autocross and it wouldn't crank. I went to FLAPS and bought a starter button, some wire, a spade terminal and a loop terminal. I wired the start button up, hooked the spade terminal to the connector on the relay board and the loop terminal to the battery. Then I duct taped the button to the air cleaner snorkel. Every time we had to start the car, I had to open the engine lid and push the button. She got all her runs in and we were able to get home.

So it works.
