(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

been watching harrys garage.
takes his 930 turbo for a run from UK to germany.

goes to porsche's other warehouse.
amongst other diversions.

walks into other warehouse.
and...........first car on the cards he goes straight up to.
dr. marchants humble little 1.8
and harry proclaims his affection for star steelies.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I like their simple, understated mechanical look. I have a set on my 914 now that I sourced specifically.. mine are the ET26 version from the “Sun Bug” (I think it was), for the slightly deeper dish look.

even more (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
3 at least that i know of.

flat screen super beetles (1500s) got a 4.5 inch rim version.

Attached Image

1600s (curved screen), cabs and various special additions got the 5.5 inch rim with the deeper offset ET34 rims.

the 5.5 ET40 is unique to the 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

the beetle guys here in aus chase the 4.5s for their flat screen 1500 superbugs.
bit of a cult car apparently.

@Artfrombama

yes - and also the embossed slots.
early and late versions.

be interesting to know when they changed over.
bet like anything 74 related its not the model year. be some rendom date during production run of 74 on. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

the 5 on mine are orig with the car new.
they have the embossed edge around the slots.
believe thats the early version.
the plain slots are the later ones.

from the data i have on the l jets they seemed to go over to the plain slots around sept/oct 74 on the early 75 my production run. but whether thats reliable info or not who knows. cars i have on file could have been mixed and matched decades ago along the way.

Yes I should have mentioned my ET26 sport bug steelies are 5.5”. Here they are with 205/60r15 tires and I still have room… but I did pull the fender just a little when doing restoration. Still I didn’t expect to have any extra room.
