Are there any common reasons that the turn signals would not be self cancelling like they are supposed to? - like, could the wheel have been mounted up side down or something ? The crest on the pad is oriented correctly but that may be possible either way. I did not necessarily check where the "cancelling nub" was located on the back of the wheel when I installed it. Or, since I had the wheel taken apart at one point (was looking at doing a quick release but didn't follow thru) could I have gotten something misaligned when it was put back together?

I'd take the wheel off and investigate but I'm not gonna have the car for a couple days and was hoping to have an idea before getting it back.

Make sure these pieces are in place in the switch. Plastic pins break and spring falls out.

I have fixed this a few times in my '74, the 70 seems to have no trouble.

With the 74 I replaced the entire turn signal assembly for another problem and then this occurred as a result. seems that the entire operation is dependent on a variety of systems to be lubed and also aligned........lovable analog car....... specifically the depth of the turn assembly when sitting in the hub is critical, in my 74 the NEW assembly was not quite built so that it sat firmly in the hub (these assemblies are made for a variety of cars, so they may be perfect in a beetle, or Ghia, etc.)

I may go back in there....may not.....

Also, there is a requirement for the wheel to turn more that 180 degrees for the auto-off to work, in NE most of the intersections are NOT 90 degrees.........

hhhmmmm....after this I am energized to get back in there and fix this!

I bought a pair of replacement pieces for broken plastic ones. They’re brass.

Key search words: *turn* *signal*
And put 914Sixer in the name box
