I went to put in new KYB shocks today was was surprised to see this type of top on the shock tubes. I thought it would be the type I could just spin off with a hammer and screwdriver. Can I do the same technique in the inner slot or do I need something that goes into the holes on the sides?
Thanks!

You can try a pin spanner but if that nut has been on there a long time, you will probably need a pipe wrench to remove the gland nut. The nuts have a lot of surface area on the threads so can be pretty difficult if they are corroded.

Let us know what you think of the KYB’s. I’ve had them on cars and never been a fan and that was my 20 year old body, not my current 59 year old one.
