After hearing my 45 year old Hoffman service lift complain while raising my 2100 lb.
car, I knew it was time for action. It was purchased new by Jaguar Cars North America while they were headquartered in Leonia, New Jersey. I bought it from them ~1993 Luckily I was able to get OE service and repair parts from Germany ... pre-tariff thank goodness. This included V belts, a chain, chain guides and lift nuts and safety parts. I was even able to get a service and repair manual ( PDF ) from the current Hoffman organisation in the US. While I was at it I modified the lift arms to more easily swing them under my lowered car. I cut and lowered the arms 1 1/2" and welded with added gussets. After plenty of de-greasing, cleaning, welding, re-assembly, adjusting and painting it's back at work. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Wow!
You're so die hard you have a real German lift! And it looks NICE! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) I believe that is the smallest side post I've seen. Looks like it will fit where others won't. When I bought my new lift 10 years ago everything was built in China... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) |

I have a postwar Walker lift. Old enough so that the instructions included inside a cover plate are printed on asbestos. You know. Fireproof.
