I have a set of factory 914-6 heat exchangers that I will not be using.
One of the boxes has a section that is rusted out and a fair amount of pinholing. The other one has pinholes that can be seen. Are these repairable? What might be a fair price to sell them for to someone looking for original H/Es? |

Yes repairable. I have a set with pin holed areas that Ben quoted at $400-$600 To repair. Another repaired set sold but took a long time to sell. I think the adking price was $1600.
First clean up those burnt oil deposits and get the shells blasted. You may have more holes than you see now. I did. I would be concerned about the pipes. Pressure test them before repairing the shells. Most buyers want really nice looking parts when spe ding big bucks. I have two pairs needing similar repairs. I bought one pair for $600 that I thought was a bargain. I will be selling them either repaired or as is because a got a pair of modified 996 exchangers that flow better for my 2.7. |

I would expect to repair those for 5-700 as that edge repair is a PIA.

I have a set in similar repair and was considering repairing them. Currently a set of headers are getting the job done (partially)

Great, I have a couple questions, are the heavy pits on the actual pipes of concern?
and what material is the jacket? TIA |

are the heavy pits on the actual pipes of concern? Same concern as above and does the heavy pitting on the tubes propagate in the heat exchanger section? What is the wall thickness in those spots and when will it bust through feeding toxic gas in the cabin? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) The heavy pitting on the pipes is pretty normal for these pieces. Ben has explained it once before but it doesn’t usually mean they are toast. |

I picked up a set a year or so ago and sure appears some section loss with the pipes. I am tempted to cut one apart and measure the available wall thickness. |
