All,

The did stick I have is not very helpful - does anyone have one from a 914-6 that has actual marks on the stick?

The one I have has no marks.

Thank you

When you insert the dipstick make sure that the little tab clips over the lip of the tube inside the filler neck. It’s easy to push the tab inside the tube which would give you a wrong oil level.

Just as an FYI - It is my understanding a "stock" 914-6 oil tank dip stick will not fit in aftermarket oil tanks which come with unmarked wire dipsticks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Correct as its an aftermarket tank with larger capacity. The reality is that how one should approach a build is with stockish oil line setups you should add 9.5 qts to and empty engine, tank, oil line setup. Run the car to 180 degrees and idle on level area then check the oil level and mark. filler necks are all different. If you buy and OEM filler then a stock dipstick would be close but not perfect. The only correct way is as I described above. if you use a front cooler then you have to calculate the volume of the added lines and cooler

At one point I bought filler necks from marek but that turned out to be an absolute disaster in shipping costs. maybe this summer I will revise the filler necks I make.
