I'm in the planning stages of taking my wife on a road trip thru Colorado to see the aspens in the fall. In the teener. Phoenix to Durango ,Pueblo, Montrose back to Durango, home . Wolf Creeck Pass , Monach Pass , Million dollar Hwy. High mtn passes , windy roads, steep roads, beautiful scenery.
Thoughts on the D-jet fueling. Experiences on the passes in late Sept ,early Oct. How do old teeners deal with high altitudes? Mechanicaly it's practically new or rebuilt except for the D-jet . Talk to me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I’ve driven the opposite route in a teener before

And many many times in the mountains and altitude

You should bring her and the car to RRC in September

Last year we were in Durango
This year it’s a few hours moved.
But still will have plenty of mountain scenery

Sounds fun - I'd suggest using your AI of choice to help plan your trip - you can feed it all sorts of variable to tailor it to your liking. X number of miles per day - best time of year for leaves/temps, etc. it can suggest points of interest, places to stay, eat....it's a pretty amazing tool for something like this.

I have a drive planned in order to move a 67 911 from L.A. to the midwest. I asked it for dates with cooler temps, a route with the lowest altitude variation, divide the trip into 6 and 7 day variations....really good stuff.

RRC

Is a teener event named red rocks classic. Always around September 14th
It’s I believe the 21st year of this event

It’s usually attended by 20-30 914 people
We do drives each day on scenic routes with some group meals.
We always have a host hotel. And lots of evening car talk over a beer

Lots of teener support so tools, parts, knowledge for any needed car repairs that may occur

It can be a little early for maximum leaf watching. But the peak viewings change each year so we have had great leaf watching some years

Last year we got caught in a snow storm during the event rather than leaf watching

I'm sure Ai could do it faster, but to me planning is half the fun. When i was 13 I navigated our Boy Scout troop to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago from central ILL . 61 yrs ago. Been all over the country since. Sometimes it's just fun stumbling across things. There is a particular pipe coming out the side of a mountain on HWY 50 I want to find again. That is the real goal of the trip. Best water I ever tasted. I doubt Ai knows about that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sunglasses.gif)
