Not really well titled but will proceed with more info ;
Engine hasn't been started for about 1yr due to an unrelated issue that I have only just found out about , so over that period I would expect the sump is holding a fair chunk of the oil tank capacity? ,for that reason the change of these exhaust valve covers will require a sump drain due to flood back from the stock tank ?. Old mag covers are buggered really even after being resurfacing twice,,they have gone soft I had these on and twice and got minimal leakage because the engine had been recently run . I have the covers , VR gaskets and mounting hardware ,thoughts from others would be very helpful ,cheers. |

R&R the valve covers/gaskets and refill with new oil and filter. If you're using the turbo lower valve cover they'll need some of the fins milled down. There's a couple of ways to get this done. One would be to have a machine shop shave the fins down a bit or just remove enough of the fins to clear the suspension ear. There's a few threads here that cover this. |

You can remove plugs and turn engine over a couple 15 sec. and all oil will be back in the tank....but why, as Luke said just drain oil....Its shot.
