Teeners, or Brain Trust if you prefer. While I have the engine out of the BB I would like to address the rear ride height if it’s fairly easy. The Koni’s came with the car, and the rear height is almost an inch lower than I would like it, although the shocks seem to be performing well. To me, it looks like I might be able to add spacers to the lower perch, if I can find some. Or am I not seeing the geometry correctly? If this would work, any idea where I can source the spacers?

It looks like the spring perch is adjustable. If so, the collar around the shock body has grooves and a snap ring that sets the height of the perch section. Move the ring and perch to a higher groove and raise the ride height.

Got a picture of the car's stance, as-is ? - I'm just curious where it sits now.
I have some spacers that I just took off of a set of Konis, but the engine is out and so I'm not sure where it's gonna sit or if I'm gonna like it. If I like it without the spacers, I might would part with mine. Attached thumbnail(s) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) You might be able to add spacers, but they might be hard to buy. Many 914 rear shocks have adjustable perch height (multiple grooves in tube and a big snap ring) but those don't look like they do. The springs are prone to sag badly with age. All of them! How old are your springs? I'd hunt springs first on that set up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ninja.gif) Edit: OP your car looks nice! Very clean cars are SO MUCH better to work on! |

“The springs are prone to sag badly with age. All of them!“
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I’ve bought about 20 914’s and all of them had sagging springs. Buy new. |

Its hard to see in this photo, but easy to tell if you had the pieces. The bottom perch the spring sits on is a separate piece from the sleeve that slides into place on the shock body. The sleeve has three grooves for the snap ring to be positioned in. If you look closely you can see the top groove on the sleeve with no snap ring in place. That would be for the lowest ride height. The photo looks like the perch may be sitting on the middle adjustment. There is possibility one more adjustment. Jack up the car. Remove wheel and look. I don't remember if you can change the setting without removing the shock. Maybe just the bottom bolt of shock so it can extend more.

Look for some exhaust pipe that the inside diameter match the outer diameter of the shock and cut spacers to fit.
