Historic D-Jet/L-Jet Technical Documents (Australia) Options

recently there was an on-line auction of the contents of a country mechanics workshop
down here.

we spotted the auction which was listed by an agricultural/farming auctioneer's company.
i think a lot of the VW crew did not realise it was on.

i went for these three things and picked them up for a lobster ($20.00 australian note (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) )



fairly interesting stuff.
1. an original bosch technical manual for the D Jet EFI system on the 1968 VW 1600 fastback (aus spec). its a printed in germany document. yet to go through it.
dates from 68 when the cars first were sold. but it would be an interesting compare and contrast with the USA system fitted to the type 3 cars. as far as i know no D jet 1600 fastbacks survive down here. and i have certainly only ever seen one and that was 30+ years ago.

2. some real interesting L jet stuff.
i was amazed to pick these up.
proof of the mythic story that 100 L jet Buses were imported into Australia by VW in 1976. it was a batch and for some reason they were fitted with L Jet.
all buses were usually either single carb type1 engines or dual carb type4 engines.
i have only had a quick scan through it so far but its quite interesting because from what i can tell there was no TPS, but rather a full load micro switch off the top of the throttle body. there was no decel valve. and they were fitted with EGR.

Again i have never run across one of these L Jet buses, just heard of the mythic stories which you never knew were true or not. but these documents verify the existence of them at one time. who knows how many survive. my guess - none.
