Specifically for a 73 2.4 914 and a 2000 Toyota Tacoma 4x4. Since the 914 is almost back on the road, I'm shopping insurance and was wondering what y'all use. Maybe get the 914 and the truck insured with the same company? Or Hagerty for the 914 and something else for the truck? Thanks in advance!

I use Hagerty for both my '73 914 and my '04 Boxster. I use Progressive for my '04 Chevrolet truck and my wife's '15 Lexus RX 350.

I like the "agreed value" part of Hagerty and adding my Boxster to that policy was less expensive than insuring with Progressive.

All our "regular" cars are insured through USAA. Their customer service, including banking, has taken a steep dive lately but unfortunately that probably can be said for society in general nowadays. We initially had our three vintage cars insured with American Collector's Insurance as it was the partner vendor with USAA. However they had a really steep price increase the next year so I shopped around and Hagerty was the best deal for us by far. Less than 50% of the cost of American Collector's as well as the other companies I got quotes from. Vintage car insurance has some very specific restrictions on usage and storage, so make sure you are aware of those. I doubt your Tacoma would qualify. The main ones are that when not in use the vehicle must be parked in an enclosed garage and that it is only used for recreational purposes -- pleasure drives, club events, etc. No grocery shopping, running errands, or the like.

Hagerty, while they support SCCA and its programs, are usually quite spendy. My collector/classics and enclosed trailer are through Heacock Classic.

2026 policy:
- '74 street 914, $25k named value
- '74 race 914 (stripped and caged but street reg'd), $10k value
- '92 968, $30k value
- '01 28-foot enclosed trailer, $7k value
- Comp/collision, includes towing, $1k deductibles

I pay a $760 annual policy premium. It does require the cars to be garaged in locked storage and allows "occasional pleasure use" (i.e., no commuting or commercial use).
