Being lucky (fortunate) to own/operate several sporting machines I must share. I have had this near original 1975 911S for close to 20 years, probably logged a couple thousand miles with the exception of the cross country trip home with her. It has been one thing or another that kept her off the road, the past several years I was unable to repair the bucking/surging. I had a former Stoddard mechanic do a full rebuild and after I got her home could never get a smooth transition between 2,000 and 3,000 rpms.
I finally removed the CIS system and installed a pair of Weber 40 IDTP, has never run better, just wish I would have done it sooner. Comparing it to my 2056 build is quite different. the 911S is much more "luxurious" for lack of another term and my lowly partly original 1975 914 (2056) is (was) their entry level machine and what a difference. Having cut my teeth in the late 1960's/early 1970's with several T1 and T3 examples the 914 is much like going home. I'll bet many others can share similar experiences |

The ride in the 911 is certainly more luxurious than the ride in the 914. I also have AC in the 911. Gotta say that my six conversion is much more fun to drive. The 914 grabs you by the brain and keeps hold until you turn off the key. Well, it isn’t really like that, but it comes pretty close. |
