I was perusing my files on a 914 LE that went back over the pond a few years ago (sent from the US), and found the 'COA' from VW that the owner acquired and sent to me. Thought this was potentially an interesting approach to the PPS/CTCs now available.

Not sure where to source these from, perhaps a VW dealership?

Poking around on the web I found that these appear to be issued by VW classic:

https://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.com/en...ata-sheets.html

Not 100% sure they can be provided to US customers as their pricing is in euros, but could not find specific information otherwise.

Very Interesting! It can't hurt to have too much documentation for my LE (VIN-14854).

Also interesting is the "cannot be identified" items. I wonder if M778 is what my COA calls the " 'CANAM' Limited Edition Package"?

thanks jeff.
super to see confirmation it can be done through VW europe.
cost would be $160 AUD for me which is absolutely reasonable in capital letters.

i'm doing it. let you know what i get after i do it.

poking around on the website there it would seem you can have the engine number confirmed with a separate attached letter. you tell them the number and they say yes or no.

well, i hit an obstacle already.
filled out my order and proceeded to checkout.
did not give me the option of the country i am in.
i know Australia is irrelevant but.
USA and Canada are options in the drop down menu. which is interesting.
i would think this could mean you guys can certainly try this.

i have sent off an enquiry to see if they can help me out there at VW Classic in Wolfsburg.

and i was all fired up and on to it too! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Bingo! Thats exactly what M778 is. The USA Can Am equipment package. The car on the cert is a US market 914LE, shipped back overseas.

VW Classic got back to me inside 6 hours.
i can do the order directly by email to them.
have provided me with complete instructions.

will let you know what i get when it happens.
no doubt it might take some time to arrive down here depending on how they send it.
