The trunk light in my 72 does not seem to work. First thing to check is the bulb, of course. Easy to get the little module out that sits behind the trunk wall, but then how do you get at the bulb?? The module seems like a single, sealed unit.

This 22 year old thread asks the same question, but then doesn't really give an answer. Anyone have any wisdom here? I can't drive the car without a working trunk light, after all.

Mine were gummed up a bit, it is plastic so I soaked it in soap and water. Then after soaking I carefully stuck a finger nail in at the end between the metal base and the lens.
Once the gap showed I just wiggled it off carefully. It cleaned up nice.

Push twist
Sometime the bulb corrodes in the socket. Squirt some penetrating oli on it

Thanks both for these great answers. All the plastic is so old, it's like a time traveler. You really want to know if someone has done something you're thinking of doing before so that you don't risk wrecking something old but working. I prefer to not re-invent the wheel if possible. Amazing help. Thanks again.
