1. Is the transaxle side of the speedometer cable meant to have a boot? I have seen one on a couple of cars that seem very original (photo from BaT, not my car). I don't see it listed in parts catalog. I bought a new speedo cable. It came with a boot for the firewall side. Nothing for the transaxle side.

2. The nut on the speedo cable has a couple tabs and small holes. Almost like safety wire holes. Do they have a purpose?

3. Is the clamp that holds the speedo, clutch, and accelerator cables something special? I could not find a way to orient a common Norma clamp to attach to the bracket in a way that is oriented for the cable direction. The clamp opening would be running perpendicular, instead of parallel to the cable run.

Thank you.

I personally have never seen a rubber boot on the angle drive nut. However, the
diagrams seem to show it as part of the cable (single part #) so maybe it only came
on stock cables produced back then.

Also the nuts I have used never had tabs.

For the clamping of all the 3 cables, this picture is how I have used the clamp with
a small aluminum extender. The stud was removed in favor of short bolt. You may
need to alter this because I am obviously using headers here. I also put some slit old
fuel lines around cables for more protection.
