At what pressure does the relief valve open or close to let oil into the oil cooler? I have seen 40 lbs as when it bypass the cooler. I have a 30 mm pump. Trying to figure out if my cooler is full flow.

Good luck getting a solid answer. May want to talk with Chris at Tangerine and pursue his bypass valve.

I’ve done the math based on spring rate, travel, and relief piston size. The calculated bypass pressure is 84 psi. This is probably a bit high and not fully capturing the exact point at which the piston begins to just crack open and begin bleeding off.

A better way to judge if you’re bypassing the cooler is steady state oil temperatures at highway cruise at about 60-75 mph.

Do you know your temps?

It gets a little more complicated as I also have a additional oil cooler with a 180 degree thermostat
On a 80 degree day doing 70 mph, o/p 45 lbs , 2900 rpm, head temp about 300. Oil temp 190.
You are right on getting a solid answer.
In this scenario is the stock cooler getting all the oil? Or is it restricting some?

Unclear on what you’re asking.

You have an aux oil cooler and associated plumbing so that helps justify the 30mm pump.

Your oil temps are low

You have good oil pressure.

Not seeing the source of concern.
