I could be wrong, but I believe this panel is the most important piece in a 914's torsional integrity. I forms a triangular tube between the frame rails. When it separates itself from the floor from rust it possibly does nothing. I put these thicker replacement panels and the thicker rear floor pan in my v8 car and while welding it all together I realized what a rigid structure this becomes, possibly better than new. Any thoughts???
